Kunming Attractions
Qiongzhu Si (Bamboo Temple)
The Qiongzhu Temple is situated on the Yu’an Mountain to the northwest of Kunming amid wooded peaks, clouds and mist, and flowing streams. It was first built in the Yuan Dynasty.

Dali Ancient Twon
Dali Ancient City, also called Yeyu City, Forbidden City, Zhonghezhen, lies 3 kilometers north from Xiaguan, the capital of Dali Prefecture. Embracing Erhai Lake in the east and adjoining Cangshan Mountain in the west, Dali City was first established in the early period of the Ming Dynasty, and then an administrative organ called “wei” was set up.
Erhai Lake and Erhai Park
Erhai Lake, also known as Yeyu Pond, Xi’er River and Kunmi River in old times, is named after its shape and expanse. “Er” in Chinese means a human ear and “Hai” means a sea, hence its name Erhai.
Cangshan Mountain
Cangshan Mountain, also known as Diancangshan, is located at the southern end of the Yunling Mountains and forms a trailing section of the Hengduan (transversely faulted) Mountains.
Butterfly Spring
Twenty-four km north of Dali, at the foot of Yunlong Peak of Cangshan Mountain is the Butterfly Spring. Riding along the Yunnan-Tibetan highway towards the northwest, you’ll see a stone statue of butterflies on the roadside denoting the site of the fountain.

Baisha Murals, Lijiang
Baisha Murals are located in Baisha village which lies 10km north of Lijiang ancient town, west to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, south to Longquan Village, West to Zhishan Mountain. Being an old and beautiful small town, it is the earliest habitation and political centre for the Naxi Nationality.
Baisha Old Town
Baisha Village in Lijiang city. The Baisha Ancient Village is one of the oldest towns in Lijiang City. It got its name “Baisha” meaning “white sand” from the natural white sand in the area. It was the cradle-land of the Tusi Dynasty evolved from the Mu Clan.
Black Dragon Pond
As the water is as green and lucid as jade, the pond is also entitled “Yuquan” or Jade Fountain. On the bank of the pond willows hang their withes like silk thread. One can see arbours and pavilions beside the pond, temples hidden in the trees and variegated flowers found everywhere.
The First Bend of the Yangtze River
The First Bend of the Yangtze River is located on the north side of the highway leading from Dali to Lijiang, about 70 km. from lijiang Town. The upper reaches of the Yangtze River is named the Jinsha River, which originates from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
